Dear MoMo Lusaka delegate,

What an event we had this last Monday night! Interesting messages from the panel and very good networking afterwards.

Many thanks to all of you 120 participants!

And tonight at ZNBC, TV2, at 18.30 during “Business Day” there will be a follow up interview with Simunza Muyangana and Gustaf Engstrand.

Theme of the MoMo on 29 October was “”Incubation of ICT start-up companies in Zambia”. Our main speaker Juha Miettinen, SAIS programme technical director (based in Windhoek), provided an overview of the New Factory/Demola business incubation concept and various angles of business incubation. The main keyword seems to be “teamwork” between various stakeholders.

Mukombo J. Tambatamba, from the National Technology Business Centre (NTBC) started out the panel discussion by providing an overview of existing initiatives for strengthening and facilitating start-up of small and medium sized enterprises in Zambia. Tue Nyboe Andersen, Kukula Capital, shared the investor perspective on SME financing and stressed the need for business incubation in reality. Last but not least Lukonga Lindunda of BongoHive elaborated on the experiences and wishes of the young Zambian ICT entrepreneurs and start-ups. Many urgent questions were asked to the panel, which gave replies under the sensitive moderation of Ville Luukkanen, Embassy of Finland. Judging from the vibrant networking following the seminar part, a lot of discussion on the touched subject remains. And certainly, many of us are now ready to take the next step in contributing to real facilitation of start-up ICT businesses.

Many thanks to all speakers and panellists. Thanks again to TopFloor for hosting, for the third time now. And thanks to Kukula Capital for sponsoring the bar and snacks.

As mentioned during the meeting, we are calling all of you who are interested to a coffee discussion this Monday 5 November at 10.00 am at the Swedish School (Alick Nkhata Road, just off Haile Selassie). The objective of this discussion is to brainstorm on ways to capturing the momentum resulting from our exciting events, and to identify themes, speakers, venues and sponsors for upcoming events.
